90's Cartoons Available On DVD Part 4/5

Hello again and welcome to part 4 of this series of posts. This time, I will be talking about Disney cartoons that are currently available on DVD. A lot of these will be from the Disney Afternoon and Toon Disney blocks. Unfortunately, Disney is usually pretty stingy with releasing their older cartoons in complete series sets. As of 2018, only 5 series got a complete series DVD release. Many of them are still incomplete or they don't have a DVD release at all. As of right now, this is all we have available to own.

Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog (1993)

   

Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog ran on Toon Disney back in 1998. Shout Factory released all episodes on DVD in 3 parts back in 2007. Unfortunately, volumes 2 and 3 are now out of print. Season 1 is still available to buy in region 1. Luckily, the show is still available to buy on amazon UK in its entirety for a decent price. The movie can be found here but unfortunately it's out of print as well and is hard to find for a good price. The Sonic Christmas Blast special can be found here. 

Bump in the Night (1994-1995)



Bump in the Night was originally released by Shout Factory back in 2010 but quickly became out of print in 2012. In 2016, Mill Creek Entertainment rescued the series in a complete series set. The set also includes the Christmas special, 'Twas the Night Before Bumpy. The series ran for 26 episodes and 1 season. BITN originally aired on ABC but was later shown on Toon Disney from 1998-2001.

Chip n Dale Rescue Rangers (1989-1990)

  

Chip n Dale Rescue Rangers aired 3 seasons and 65 episodes. The two DVD sets that were released contains 51 episodes. Unfortunately, the episodes were released in production order, not air date order. Openings and Endings are included with each episode. As of 2018, Disney still has yet to release the remaining 14 episodes. 

Darkwing Duck (1991-1992)

  

Darkwing Duck aired 3 seasons, 91 episodes, and a two part pilot episode. These two sets include the pilot and 54 episodes out of 91. Disney still has yet to release the remaining 37 episodes. The openings and endings are included in each episode. Yet again, the episodes are in production order, not air date order.   

DuckTales (1987-1990)

    

DuckTales aired 4 seasons and 100 episodes as well as a theatrical movie. The 3 volumes that were contained a total of 75 episodes. The remaining 23 episodes are still unavailable to the public. Like with the Chip n Dale Rescue Rangers DVD sets, these sets are in production order, not air date order. 

Gadget Boy (1995-1998)



Gadget Boy aired for 2 seasons and 52 episodes. The series aired on Toon Disney in 1998-2001. So far, only the 2nd season has a complete DVD release. This boxset says it is the complete series but sadly it's not. It's only half of the entire series and not even the first season. It's just the complete second season. 

Gargoyles (1994-1997)

    

Gargoyles aired for 3 seasons and 78 episodes. Disney released season 1 in 2004 and the rest of the series in 2015. 

Goof Troop (1992-1993)

  

Goof Troop aired for only 2 seasons and 78 episodes, a Christmas Special, and two films which can be found here and here. Episodes 1-54 plus the pilot episodes are included in these two DVD sets. Sadly, Disney still has no plans to release the remaining 24 episodes as of 2018. The openings and endings are included in each episode on these dvds and they are in air date order. 

Madeline (1993-2001)

Mill Creek Entertainment released the entire series of Madeline back in 2015. The series originally aired on the Family Channel back in 1993 then the series reran on Toon Disney in 1998. The final season of the show aired on Disney Channel in the year 2000. 

TaleSpin (1990-1991)

    

TaleSpin aired for one season and 65 episodes. Disney released volumes 1 and 2 back in 2006-2007. Finally in 2013, Disney released the remaining episodes in 2013 with Disney Movie Club then released it for retail a year later. Openings and endings are included on each episode.

So this is currently every Disney animated series that I was able to find from the 90's. If I missed any, please do let me know. It's such a huge shame that Disney just doesn't release their old cartoons on dvd or blu-ray. Not to mention Disney did release their Walt Disney Treasures sets (included all animated shorts from Silly Symphonies, Donald Duck, Goofy, Mickey, Chip n Dale, etc.)  but it was only available for a limited time. I wish they would release the treasures sets again but this time as blu-rays to give people who didn't have a chance to buy the dvd copies. Knowing Disney though, it's very unlikely.
