Montly Otaku Mondays #1 - What Consumed Me in April

I decided it would be fun to start a new monthly blog post that reviews all the otaku related stuff I have been up to lately for the month of April! I think it was a really good month this month.

Anime:

Konjiki no Gash Bell episodes 1~12

These episodes were all really good. I'm currently watching this one on my own and I really have liked every episode far. I'm watching it Japanese with subtitles for the first time since I found subtitles for it on nyaa in DVD quality that were released last year. I think the Japanese version is far better than the English dub. I remember trying to get into the English dub but I just couldn't back when it came out. I hate that they changed the name to Zatch and didn't keep the original name. It threw me off too much. Also all the edits that they made in the English dub were too much for me too. It's been awesome watching the original as it was intended. I'm off to a good start so I hope to finish this series this year.

A Little Snow Fairy Sugar

This is a rewatch that I decided to tackle with a friend of mine. We are on set 2 dvd 1 so we're about halfway through the series. It's only 26 episodes and it's as good as I remember. I am a fan of Koge Donbo's works such as Pita Ten (another great anime/manga series by her). It's the cutesy sugary sweet shojo art style that always gets me and honestly, it just isn't done enough these days like it did back in the mid 00s. I honestly miss it a lot.

Inari Kon Kon Koi Iroha (1~6)

I'm about halfway through with this series. Another one I'm rewatching with a friend! Decided to introduce it since my friend had not seen this one or Snow Fairy Sugar. My friend has been enjoying both as well!

Manga:

Dragon Quest: Adventures of Dai Volumes 1~2

Volume 2 was a really good read! Volume 1 had 2 full color chapters and only one full color chapter in volume 2. That chapter was The Tail of the Third Companion. Maam joins team Dai in his adventures with Popp. This volume is also where they battle Crocodine (one of my favorite villains in the series). The sixth volume was also quietly published in the first week of April after a 4-year hiatus of no further English releases from VIZ. From what I heard, VIZ had no plans to release anymore after volume 5 so I was shocked to see the sixth volume listed on Amazon along with volumes seven and eight (which I will be getting of course!). I have seen all of the anime for this (old and modern) so I already know the story fairly well but never read the original manga. I really hope that VIZ will continue to release the rest of the series.

Video Games:

Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar

I started playing this game back when it came out and I'm currently about 35hrs in the game. I have just made my way to the winter season and I have really been enjoying this relaxing, cozy game. I plan on marrying Arata and I have gotten him at the turquoise level of hearts. So maybe about halfway there til we can marry? Otherwise, each day does get pretty repetitive with raising crops and collecting stuff to sell but honestly, I enjoy it anyway. ^^;

Splatoon 2

I don't know why I enjoy this game much more than Splatoon 3. I just do. I love the game play and the waiting room as well. I like that you can see the player levels. The music is great and there just isn't a ton of thinking involved in this game. It's pretty mindless but the good addictive kind.
